RASHERS REVIEW: Flannary's Great Western Hotel, Galway, Ireland
Flannary's hotel gave us a great breakfast in bed so we decide to check out the one they served downstairs too. The dining room was spacious, well staffed (you were not waiting and they were friendly and cheery), and had lovely morning sun shining in.
The meal itself was self service, although a big plate of toast was dropped down to the table, along with pots of tea and coffee. To start the breakfast we had juice (orange, apple and grapefruit are available) and toast. After that we could have had a bowl of fruit, but instead decided to help the site so had rashers, eggs, and also hash browns, tomato, mushrooms, and some of the best fried eggs we had ever had. If you check the review we had of their breakfast in bed you will see we thought the same there. Just as we were getting ours they brought out a big tray with maybe 30 eggs on it and every single one perfect (soft-ish yoke, hard white). Maybe they have some frying machine. Any ideas how they do it please mail us as we are curious!
In a lot of self service places you feel pressured to eat and go, and not to consider seconds. This was not the case here. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and we lazed over a bowl of cereal each afterwards. I found zero to complain about with the food and staff. So in a search for a down side - I don't think you could buy a paper in the hotel. Always nice to read the headlines over coffee after a big Irish breakfast.

RASHERS REVIEW: Galway Bakery Company, William Street, Galway, Ireland
When you have got up at 6am and gone form Dublin to Galway (OK - I sat and was driven!) there is nothing nicer than a big fry to bring you back to life when you arrive.
We found the GBC cafe off Eyre square and one I saw the range of set breakfasts they had on offer it was decided. I went for the full Irish (how unusual). It was very good value at just 8 euro and 50 cent. Considering it consisted of....*deep breath*...2 rashers, fried egg, 2 sausages, baked beans, mushrooms, black pudding, white pudding, tomato, hash brown, two slices toast and a big mug of coffee. PHEW!

RASHERS REVIEW: Breakfast in bed, Flannary's Great Western Hotel, Galway, Ireland
When it is a wet, cold day outside there's nothing better than being in bed and having a big breakfast delivered to you. If you want to improve it one step more make it the morning after Saint Patricks Day!
The breakfast in Flannerys hotel was excellent. Nothing was skipped, and all that should have been hot was hot, and cold was cold. Nothing ordered was missing and it was all delivered to the room with a smile. I had two sausages, two bacon and two perfect eggs, along with some delicious muesli with cold milk. To drink I had fresh orange juice and a pot of coffee. If I was to find a complaint it is that not everywhere serves so nice a breakfast!

RASHERS REVIEW: Breakfast in bed, Flannary's Great Western Hotel, Galway, Ireland
I had not initially been too impressed with the hotel, although I had absolutely no reason for this. I think it was just that I was up too early the morning we checked in, along with the fact all the water in Galway had been contaminated.
So, when I awake with a bit of a fluffy head to a gentle knock at the door I was not expecting the extremely friendly and happy staff who delivered the best room service breakfast I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. I went for the full Monty - rashers and eggs, sausages, pudding, toast, coffee, juice and even some muesli. Not a thing I could find a problem with in any of it.
A final positive point is that the breakfast was included with the room and there was only a small 3 euro per head charge for the room delivery. Worth every penny in my opinion.

RASHERS REVIEW: Galway Bakery Company, William Street (off Eyre Square), Galway, Ireland
On Saint Patricks morning you would expect it to be hard to find a relaxed place to get a nice feed. If you find yourself beside Eyre Square in Galway drop around the corner to GBC cafe and experience the perfect feed.
The staff are nice, although quite reserved. Service is swift and the prices are a lot better than you'd find in Dublin. I had the small breakfast which is just over 5 euro and consisted of a sausage, a rasher, an egg, black and white pudding, a coffee and a couple of slices of toast.

RASHERS REVIEW: Knockcranny House Hotel, Westport, County Mayo, Ireland
Knockcranny House Hotel, situated back off the N5 Castlebar to Westport road about a kilometre before Westport town centre, offers all the luxury you would expect in a modern 4* Hotel. But we’re not interested in treatment spas, swimming pools, saunas and the like, but rather the delicious breakfasty fare on offer.
It does not disappoint. The Full Irish consists of Rashers (of the grease free persuasion, but of very high quality), egg (poached, fried or scrambled), tomato, sausages with optional black pudding and mushrooms. Freshly prepared and delivered to your table, it was filling and tasty.

RASHERS REVIEW: Knockcranny House Hotel, Westport, County Mayo, Ireland
Knockcranny House Hotel, Westport, offers all the luxury you would expect in a modern 4* Hotel - including breakfast.
On offer were the American style pancakes with honey/maple syrup Mary opted for, they were excellent. The toast seems to be on tap while the coffee comes in silver pots. All very fancy. A buffet style bar proffers muesli, cereal, yoghurt and fresh fruit, for those that way inclined. Service is excellent, warm and genuinely friendly.
Most overnight stays include Breakfast, so it’s all part of the package. However, if you wander in off the street just looking for breakfast, don’t expect much change from 30 spondoolics.

RASHERS REVIEW: A BBQ, Birr County Offaly, Ireland
When is a fry not a fry?
When it's a Barbeque.
The only thing better than a pig on a frying pan is a pig on a barbeque. As far as I know not yet available to the public but certainly available in the privacy of your own back garden in these great new globally warmed summers!

RASHERS REVIEW: Encore, Blackrock Shopping Centre, Blackrock, South County Dublin, Ireland
A1.
For 8 euro you get a comfy place to sit and read the sunday papers, with an Irish breakfast consisting of some fried baby potatoes, tomato, sausage (1), rashers and eggs, a slice of back pudding and some toast. It all tastes great, but we had one there before and it had more to it. Maybe they have to reduce the portions due to inflation? When you add two coffees it was about 21 euro for two, so not the best value but definitely a tasty and relaxing Sunday morning.

RASHERS REVIEW: Edison Diner, New York, USA
Breakfast at the Edison Diner in New York. Nobody does crispy bacon like the Americans. Highly recommended for a real New York experience. Slighty lacking in the white pudding department though.

RASHERS REVIEW: Keith's Breakfast of Champions, Dublin, Ireland
The main thing that can be said about this breakfast is that it's great value and can be had just about anywhere, consisting of a cup of Lyons Tea or sometimes Barry's and a Marlboro light, this breakfast will set you back about 30 cent, main drawback, I suppose would be the risk of contracting a serious illness but apart from that it’s a great way to start the day!

Breakfast at Dublin Airport (air side). As you'd expect overpriced and under whelming but much better than the temporary place they have in the groundside foodcourt at the moment.

RASHERS REVIEW: Bank Pub, Dame Street, Dublin 2, Ireland
Elegance is one thing guaranteed with the breakfast in The Bank bar on College Green / Dame Street, Dublin 2. It is one of the top pub interiors in Dublin, keeping the glamour of the original bank (down to toilets in the vaults!). The breakfast menu includes french toast, eggs benedict and a lot more. Naturally I went for The Full Irish in order to do this review. It was an excellent dish when it arrived. It had sausages, rashers and eggs (scrambled), tomato, black pudding, mushrooms, white pudding and toast with both honey and butter. This came in at 10 euro with the orange juice I had an extra 3 and Mick's coffee an extra 2. The price was high, but the food was worth it and the comfort and surroundings are top notch
On the down side, the service was unbelievably slow. We sat at the bar for 15 minutes without being asked if we wanted anything, and then moved to a table where we were another 10. The same happened after the meal when it took 30 minutes for a waitress to be around to get the bill. It's nice to be relaxed about stuff, but there are some limits.

RASHERS REVIEW: Fillers Deli, Blackrock, County Dublin, Ireland
Jules and I tried out a small cafe called Fillers which is just beside the wishing well pub off Newtownpark Avenue in Blackrock. We were served a delightful Irish Breakfast. Of course it had the obligatory rashers and eggs along with sausages, tomato, toast, and a large fresh coffee to wash it down. At roughly seven euro including the coffee it was great value. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed with people generally smiling and reading newspapers.
If I were to make a criticism it would be a lack of consistent opening hours. We tried to go back again a couple of weeks later on a Sunday morning (initial visit was a Saturday) and found it closed. I feel that a Sunday morning is a vital time to be open if you serve a good breakfast!
