RASHERS REVIEW: Bloomfield shopping centre cafe, Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin, Ireland.
We were in Dun Laoghaire doing some shopping and decided to have some brunch in the cafe on the ground floor of the Bloomfield Centre. Both reviews will be posted as we didn't have the same breakfasts.
I had the full Irish which consisted of two eggs (I specifically asked for two), one sausage, one rasher, one black and one white pudding, half a tomato, and two slices of toast and a coffee. This all came to about 8 euro. The coffee was crap in my opinion, and the whole lot tasted of grease. OK - it is a fry up! But this was just too much. Like it had grease poured over it to heat it up or something.
The staff were quite friendly and the place was very clean and tidy. There was no queue and lots of free seats. Still, I for one will not be back.

RASHERS REVIEW: Grand Central Pub, O'Connell Street, Dublin 1, Ireland.
Right on the main street in the city, and beside Abbey Street LUAS stop, the Grand Central is a super little spot for a post work pint, or a daytime feed. They do a spectacular chicken ceasar salad, but today I went for the full Irish breakfast.
The staff are generally good, with excellent friendly barmen. The food took about 20 minutes which is slow, but it was a busy lunchtime in the center of the city. When ti arrived it came with a bowl of 7 baby boiled potatoes (I had a choice of those, chips or garlic potatoes). The main dish had two fried eggs, two streaky strips of bacon, a tomato in two halves, two sausagse and a small slice of both black and white pudding. This was all sprinkled with paprika and some parsley to give a super presentation. The cost was €10 even, which is quite a lot, but pub food can be like that. I definitely enjoyed the experience.

RASHERS REVIEW: Avoca Cafe, Nassau Street, Dublin 2, Ireland.
Beautiful spot, right on top of the shop, a beautiful space, big old metal framed windows, great light.
They do a really good breakfast, a little pricy but worth it. This is pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. The maple syrup is really good. The price of breakfast includes unlimited coffee refills.

RASHERS REVIEW: Brambles, Stillorgan Shopping Centre, County Dublin, Ireland.
We tried this place out for breakfast. It was a strange experience. The price for the full Irish including toast and tea/coffee was about 9 euro. Not too bad we thought so we went for it.
The counter is a bit strange. Not ideally laid out for speedy service, but the staff were fast which made up for it. When I asked for the full Irish the girl replied 'What 7?'. It took me a minute (it was early) to figure she wanted me to select seven food items to make up my fry. What was strange is that this is not shown anywhere on the menu stand. I had two hash browns, mushrooms, two sausages, a rasher and an egg. With these came a coffee, the smallest glass of orange juice ever (warm too), and a lot of nice toast.
The breakfast was filling, tasty and the area was clean. I think they would have been better setting some sort of floating level with the breakfast cost so you could order extra items at a euro each or something. At the very least display this in advance so people know. When I was put on the spot I ordered fast and may have had different selection if I had time to think it over. Also, no point in giving an orange juice that is so small. Either give a human size serving (a leprechaun would have complained about the size they gave!) or don't bother giving it. Overall though, a nice place to have breakfast.

RASHERS REVIEW: Moda cafe, Rathmines, Dublin 6, Ireland.
Moda has long been a place to meet and chat in Rathmines. This little cafe is constantly changing - with the addition of downstairs, upstairs and out the back it is very spacious. The staff are not always great but this time I was served by a very helpful and friendly guy. Service was very fast and everything was done properly.
I ordered the all day traditional breakfast and a glass of orange juice. When they arrived the juice was cold, the food was hot and they came with a smile.
The breakfast had scrambled eggs rather than my preference - fried, but there was an ample quantity. Along with the egg were two sausages, a very ham like rasher, a few slices of tomato and beans. On the side there was a slice of toasted bread cut in half. The menu said two slices of toast, but what came was one slice of bread cut in half.
Overall the experience was nice. Average breakfast. Slightly steep price with the breakfast and juice coming to €11, but an ideal location on the way in or out of town.

RASHERS REVIEW: Zucchini cafe, Blackrock, County Dublin, Ireland.
This was a return review. When we called in originally to review Zucchini in March and actually walked out because of the high prices. However, in the interest of covering all the variety of breakfasts available we returned this weekend to do a review.
The Irish housing market may see prices dropping, but Blackrock cafes are not (see 'encore' review at the start of May). For two full Irish, a black and a white coffee we were stung with a €26 bill. But lets be fair and not rule it out on price - any of our frequent readers will know we cover every detail of the breakfast experience.
The staff were very friendly and cheerful. Service was fast too. When the breakfasts arrived with a smile they were excellent. Not the biggest we have reviewed, but quite good and very good quality ingredients: Two fat sausages, two rashers, one egg, a slice each of black and white clonakilty pudding (Yum!), half a grilled tomato and a pancake folded beneath the egg.
So what's our verdict? Well, personally I really enjoyed it. Clean, good food, friendly staff. I feel it was far too expensive to do all the time but when in the area it is one to try.
